  1. You could blame socialism for Venezuela’s crisis, but all you’re doing is ignoring the country’s dependence on one export, the obscene amount of wasteful spending, and the consolidation of power in one man

  2. Oh for God’s sake, everyone calling this socialism. Before the term ‘socialism’was ever thought of, this is how human beings survived and thrived. If there ever was a true global catastrophe, it would return to bartering again and fishermen, who deal in real goods would be wealthier than hedge fund managers. I like it.

  3. I have worked in Venezuela . In the aluminium industry. Must have been over 12 years ago.. same then as now by the sound of it. Locals desperate to exchange currency to green backs…. love the working class..

  4. The Venezuelan conditions are a very important, if not painful, case study for students of economics to understand the complications involved in bartering, the subsequent invention of paper money and the need to defend its value.

  5. For those who applaud Socialism and Maduro regime, they only know by the book. In reality, Socialism is the hell on earth. I had been there and will never return. That’s my promise!
